Rare autographed photo of Joe Lewis. On June 22, 1937 this Detroit native, at age 23, became the youngest fighter ever to win the title of Heavyweight Champion of the World. He defended his title for 12 years and is considered by many as the greatest heavyweight of all time. He is also characterized as a great sportsmen and patriot in that when World War II broke out in 1941 he enlisted in the Army as a private for $21.00 a month.

Included in this package, along with the autographed photograph, is a "Salute To The Champ"program produced by Motown Records that includes scores of tributes on Joe Lewis Day, August 12, 1970. Included in the program are brief biographies of Bill Cosby, The Four Tops, Mahalia Jackson, Red Foxx , B.B. King, Billy Eckstine, The Jackson 5 and H.B. Barnum plus scores of photographs of Louis' fights, even a program from a November 21, 1948 fight featuring him and Vern Mitchell.

This is truly a collectors prize, especially for boxing fans. Lewis retired from boxing in 1949. He was born May 13, 1914 and passed away on April 12, 1981. Known as the "Brown Bomber" he will be forever remembered as an outstanding human being, a tribute to his race and a boxer beyond compare.
Some Joe Lewis autographs alone are selling for $400. This is a unique offer of an autographed photograph plus a Lewis tribute program that is a rarity in itself.
Total package $450.00
